The importance:
At Song Bird Productions, pre-production is the most import aspect of the entire production process. This is what distinguishes us from the rest and ensures that innovation and quality become the hallmarks of every product delivered from our end. This is the place where we create your storyboards, design the shot lists and plan the schedules with only one aim in view – ensuring that the shoot and post-production activities can proceed smoothly without glitches. Video production is like organising a banquet while pre-production ensures that all steps are followed to prepare for serving mouth-watering platters. Even the best chef may falter without a planned recipe and maybe left with combining random ingredients together. The final output will still be generated but may not meet up with the standards we set for ourselves.
The process:
Pre-production activities at Song Bird Productions depend significantly upon the project scope. There are often projects that require casting of talents, scouting for locations, scripting & storyboarding, hiring relevant crews, scheduling of shots, and a lot more activities. Irrespective of the size or scale of the production work you wish us to execute for you, our team will always be involved in creating storyboards, shot lists along with meticulously planning the shooting schedule. These important aspects prove significantly useful in helping us generate focussed ideas along with the guidelines for executing the same.
Scripting and Storyboarding:
The script and storyboard is the documented representation of your video; the recipe guideline that needs to be followed. Creation of storyboards forms the basis that helps production teams visualise the outcome that is desired from the final video. There are certain aspects that might change when the actual filming occurs on the sets as this is a natural occurrence in this craft; however, if you are armed with a purposeful storyboard; you at least have a plan that can be executed
Shot Lists need to coincide with storyboards and provides the opportunity of how exactly the layout for the shoot should be. As soon as the Director calls “Action”, things may become very hectic and it is normal for everyone to feel that they are being rushed. If the shot list has been written out properly, it provides a plan for slowing down things and meticulously ensuring that nothing gets missed.

We understand that every extra day of production costs money and therefore give significant importance into planning the Shooting Schedule for ensuring that all shots can be filmed within the time designated as per budget. Without proper production schedules, it can turn into a scenario similar to floating in rough seas without even a compass for navigation and nobody would desire to be in such a situation.
